When you have a large household staff, you need someone you can trust to manage them. The modern butler is usually regarded as the head of staff. This means supervising everyone and making sure that they do their jobs properly.

To make sure that butlers have the skills for this role, we look for people who have been trained and have at least three years of experience. You also need to place a great deal of trust in your butler. What Does a Professional Butler Do in a Private Household?

The role is shaped by the household, so no two positions are quite the same. In most homes a butler takes care of some or all of the following.

The daily routine of the house: planning the day, keeping the household diary and overseeing housekeeping, laundry and wardrobe care.
Service for the family and guests: receiving visitors, serving drinks and meals, and setting the table for formal dinners.

It begins with a conversation about your household: who lives there, which staff are already in place, what the butler should take over and for how long. We then brief our partners, propose a suitable butler and send you an individual quote. Once you confirm, the butler takes up the role, and we remain available to you if your needs change.

Whether you are going on holiday or simply want an evening out, we can help. There are many occasions when you may need someone to look after your children. For these, we arrange trained childcare workers and nannies through our partner agencies.

They offer care tailored to your child, so that he or she feels as comfortable as possible. We can also arrange childcare for events such as weddings.

Mobile Doctor Service

If you feel unwell, you may wish to consider our mobile doctor service. We arrange a house call by an independent, licensed doctor, so that you receive the care you need.

A housekeeper looks mainly after cleaning, laundry and the order of the house. A butler usually has a wider role: serving the family and their guests, caring for valuables such as wine, silver and art, keeping the household diary and supervising the other staff. In a larger household the butler is often the head of staff.

Who provides the butler?

The butlers come from a network of partner agencies and independent professionals. They are not employed by Xclusive Mallorca. We take your request, select and brief a butler who suits your household, coordinate the arrangement and remain your single point of contact before, during and after the service.

Can I engage a butler for a short period?

Yes. A butler can be arranged for a single occasion, for a stay or season, or as a lasting member of your household on a permanent, fixed-term or temporary contract. Tell us how long you need a butler and what the role involves, and we will propose an arrangement that fits.

Can a butler travel with me?

Yes. A butler can prepare a residence before you arrive, accompany you on a trip and take care of packing, unpacking and the running of the house at your destination. For travel we arrange this as our Flying Butler service, subject to the availability of a suitable butler for your dates.

How much does a butler service cost?

There is no fixed price list, because every household and every assignment is different. The cost depends on the duties, the length of the engagement and where the butler will work. Each request is quoted individually on request, and you decide once you have seen the proposal.

How far in advance should I request a butler?

As early as your plans allow. More notice gives more time to find a butler whose experience and personality suit your household, which matters most for a permanent placement. Requests at short notice are welcome too, and we will tell you openly what is possible for your dates.
